Clonakilty Parish Church

Client: Clonakilty Parish Church Committee. Design Team: Henley and Kavanagh.

The ornate railing at the apex of the church was blown down in severe gale force winds and required immediate attention. For safety reasons and having previously completed projects in the parish we were instructed to carry out the works.

• The existing railing which was on the apex of the church which was 80ft high had to be removed
• A new railing had to be fabricated exactly to match the existing apex of the roof and had to be adjusted and strengthened to fix the new railing.
• A special movable platform had to be fabricated to fit over the apex of the roof for the health and safety of the craftsmen and operatives.
• As this 1875 church is a heritage building, extreme care had to be exercised to preserve the fabric of the building.
• Our own dedicated and experienced workforce were required to use their skills in dangerous winter conditions to deliver the project.

New Footbridge

Erect new footbridge over river.

Design Team: Cork County Council and JOD Associates.

• Align structure to match existing road and car park levels.
• Construct paving and railings to match existing surroundings.
• Expert management skills necessary as work progressed to limit damage to property if river in flood situation.

Brewery Chimney Clonakilty

Refurbish existing chimney.

Client: Cork County Council and JOD Associates

1) Chimney had to be scaffolded.
2) Improve stability and strengthen structure.
3) Plumbline chimney from cap to base
4) Erect tension cable to monitor chimney movement.
5) Rake out vertical cracking and repair brickwork facings
